Betera is located on the southern slope of the Sierra Calderona, 14.4 km from Valencia and 23 km from the Mediterranean Sea, in the border area with the extensive Valencian market garden area. It has a terrain with slight undulations, reaching 156m at its highest point, an outstanding feature being the Carraixet ravine that crosses it from northwest to southeast. Its geographical location between the sea and the mountains creates a microclimate which is the mildest in the region, with the dominant winds being the Levante and the West. The rains appear mainly in autumn and spring. It has a population of 23.178 inhabitants, surface area of 75.10 km² and population density of 308.63 hab./ Km². As for public transport, it can be accessed via line 1 of the Valencia Metro, which terminates in this town, as well as via fast roads. This railway line is a descendent of the old “Trenet” of Valencia, which used to go from Bétera to the station of Pont de Fusta in Valencia.
